Utility Tracker is a stand-alone Ms Access based utility management application. The intended audience is local governments within Victoria.
What does Utility Tracker do?
- Tracks utility accounts including, electricity, gas, water, vehicle usage and public lighting
- Monitors utility performance against benchmarked data, and
- Provides progress reporting to monitor energy savings and reduction in greenhouse pollution.

Open Source software
Open source means any software whose code is available for users to look at and modify freely.
Utility Tracker is an Ms Access database. You can register your download from the Sustainable Energy Authority, and modify the product according to the needs of your organisation.
Terms and conditions apply with regard to the use of the software and users will be requested to return data to Sustainable Energy Authority for benchmarking purposes.

Utility Tracker incorporates benchmarking data which has been collated from local governments across Victoria. The benchmarking data will be updated on an annual basis, using data collected from Utility Tracker users. The Sustainable Energy Authority will approach users annually to request transfer of data in the required format.

Installation of Utility Tracker
Step 1–Complete registration form.
Step 2–Run installation wizard.
Step 3–Accept terms and conditions of software utilisation.
Step 4 –Select location for Utility Tracker installation.
Step 5–Join Utility Tracker user group.
Step 1–Registration for Utility Tracker
To obtain a copy of the Utility Tracker, first you must fill in the following form.
Press submit to obtain the installation files.
Step 2–Run installation wizard
NOTE: Downloading these file may take some time depending on your internet connection.
Approximately 20 minutes for a 56K modem OR
Approximately 2-3 minutes using broadband (512K connection)
- Double-click the related executable (.EXE) file.
- Click Next and follow the installation wizard

Read and decide whether to accept the Terms and conditions
Step 4–Select location for Utility Tracker installation
Select your preferred location where you want the application to be installed.
Step 5–Join Utility Tracker user group
The Utility Tracker user group is an online community for users who want to share and exchange information.
The Utility Tracker user group uses a tool adopted by many community groups - mc². For more details of this program see My Connected Community.
Sustainable Energy Authority will send an e-mail based on your registration details. The joining instructions are provided in the text of the e-mail.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the cost of Utility Tracker?
There is no purchase cost for using Utility Tracker. However as a user of Utility Tracker, local governments will be requested to provide any data collected to the Sustainable Energy Authority. This data will be used to update the benchmark data on an annual basis.
Can I import my Ms Excel billing data?
Yes. The data transfer facility allows you to electronically import data. This is fully explained in the Help file within Utility Tracker.
Can I import my old MEMtool data?
Yes. This data can be imported and is fully explained in the Help file within Utility Tracker.
What support is available for Utility Tracker?
